STEP 3 Product import

If you want to be able to display products from you offer on the website, send product recommendations through various channels, you have to import a products to the system. Below we will show you how to do it step by step.

Prepare OG tags that describe your products

OG Tags are specific tags that describe a certain product. They should be implemented in the structure of the HTML document in the head section of a product card. We need them to recognize which products your customer views. Especially, AI recommendation models (for example personalized products or bestsellers) use OG tags to build a history of viewed products and apply it to the algorithm.

When you have it implemented, a dynamic product catalog is built. Using the inserts mechanism, you can refer to its content and use it in various campaigns, for example for abandoned baskets. It allows you to reconstruct products in email or in dynamic content templates.

Below you will find an example of OG tags implementation.

<!-- "product" is the mandatory og:type for use with dynamic products catalog -->
<meta property="og:type" content="product">

<!-- the mandatory unique product ID, the Stock Keeping Unit (SKU), must be the same as the one sent to the cart/basket -->
<meta property="product:retailer_part_no" content="112233">

<!-- a product's photo -->
<meta property="og:image" content="https://example.com/photo/product_image.jpg">

<meta property="og:title" content="product_name">
<meta property="og:site_name" content="Example Site">
<meta property="og:url" content="https://example.com/product_site.html">

<!-- multiple categories are allowed -->
<meta property="product:category" content="category1_name">
<meta property="product:category" content="category2_name">

<meta property="product:price:amount" content="1,000.00">
<meta property="product:sale_price:amount" content="800.00" />
<meta property="product:original_price:amount" content="1,000.00">
WARNING: Og:tags must be implemented in the structure of the HTML document in the head section of a product card. Tags must be placed at the very beginning of the page, so that they load before the Synerise SDK tracker loads.

Catalogs

The Catalogs section enables you to manage your company data. As described in the OG tag section, the most common catalog is a dynamic product catalog that allows you to keep the metadata of all products available in your ecommerce in one place. However, you can create various catalogs for your needs.

In order to do so, you need to prepare a file (csv / json / xml) that contains some columns with data and one of those column’s values should be unique (we need to specify such column to be an order key in the catalog). After you create a catalog, you can refer to it in many places, especially in campaign templates in order to receive a needed value. To do so you need to use inserts.

Always remember to define a proper order key name (it should be the name of a column you chose in your file).
